When you’re a professional photographer, your mind is subconsciously thinking nonstop. When you’re a new photographer your thinking to yourself or out-loud. Do I have the correct composition, am I taking advantage of the full frame? Is the image lit correctly, did I chose the right aperture, ISO, or shutter speed? There can literally be so much things running through our heads. Well let me add something to your check list. Did you look behind you, or beside you. As a photographer its good to have a 360° awareness. If not you may miss some beautiful shots; shots you never dreamed you could take.
This image was taken in Vest Virginia. Dolly Sods to be exact. This is the reverse of a sunset shot to see the sunset shot that was right behind me. The point is if I didn’t turn around I would not have been able to catch this shot. I almost missed it because I was focused on the sunset.
